No. 001 — On writing things down
This is the first letter, so let me tell you what you’ve signed up for.
Once a month I’ll send one considered letter: the most useful lesson from that month of building, one failure worth dissecting, and one idea I can’t let go of. No link dumps, no growth hacks, no filler to hit a word count.
Why write it at all
The habit that changed how I operate wasn’t a productivity system — it was writing decisions down before knowing how they’d turn out. The letter is that habit made public. If I can’t explain a lesson clearly enough to send it to you, I haven’t actually learned it.
What’s coming
Next month: the real numbers and reasoning behind a hire I got badly wrong, and the checklist that came out of it.
Until then — build something, write it down.
